The Tapas Route will promote Alcossebre’s restaurants and their local specialities

The Alcossebre Tapas Route will begin on 14th July.  At 11:00h this gastronomic and tourism initiative will begin with a special trip to all the restaurants taking part (Tropicana, Can-Roig, Montemar, La Sal, Restaurante Ca Batiste, Restaurante Juan and Restaurante Náutico), at a cost of 21 Euros.  Places on this inaugural visit will be organised specifically for members of the gastronomic association, and attendance will be only by invitation from the gastronomic association, those places taking part or the Council, so there will be no tickets on sale.
After this date, there will be two trips per week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays from the 18th July until the 8th September inclusive, which will follow the same landscape/coastal route, with four stops for tapas.  Tickets for this can be obtained at the tourist train stop and will cost 13 Euros to include transport on board the Tourist Train and the tapas.  It will start at about 11:30h in the morning and will end around 13:30 or 14:00 at the same place as it started.  Each stop will last about 20 minutes.  This will enable those taking part to go from one establishment to another, enjoying the tapas and the landscape.
The Chairman of the “De la mar a la taula” Gastronomic Society, David Doppioni, explained that all this “will be combined with the pleasure of enjoying the beauty of the place and the Mediterranean atmosphere, as all the stops are by the sea”.
Regarding what participants will be offered, he stressed that “the tapas will be of a high standard, made from quality products”.
According to the organisers, this idea arose from conversations held with the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council – which is a collaborator – and the Tourist Department – patron of the initiative – “with the aim of bringing to life and promoting what we have here, the town and our gastronomy”.
The Society thanks all those restaurants taking part for their cooperation, the tourist train, the Council and Tourist Department, “without whose cooperation it would not have been possible for this event to take place”.
From the 5th July, a leaflet will be available in the Alcossebre tourist office with information about the restaurants taking part and the route to follow, as well as future events organised by the gastronomic association.
