Just one click will give you all the tourist information on Alcala de Xivert and Alcossebre on your computer or mobile phone
The Layar system, which gives tourism information on shops, restaurants, fiestas and heritage in Alcala de Xivert and Alcossebre via computer or other mobile equipment on http://alcossebre.actiopolis.com/ was announced at a special event attended by members of the company which has set up the system, together with Tourism councillor, Ricardo Aguilar.
It is aimed at tourists and residents and users will find all the information regarding local tourism, where the town is situated, maps, heritage and accommodation. It can be downloaded free and will be updated daily giving a full programme of events.
Members of the local council held a meeting with representatives of the Alcossebre hotels and camp sites to explain the steps the Council is taking to encourage local tourism during the summer and at other times of the year.
“The main drive will be for active tourism given the extraordinary characteristics of our town, which has both the sea and mountains and where sports activities are within the reach of all”, mayor Francisco Juan stated. He also outlined the walking routes which the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council is finalising.
Head of Tourism, Ricardo Aguilar, pointed out that “the Council will cooperate fully with any projects which encourage local tourism”. He also added that the council will continue to hold working meetings with local enterprises to encourage greater collaboration between them and the Council.
This is a pioneering project in Castellón province, bringing together a guide of businesses, restaurants and hotels in several languages to give greater access for foreign tourists. Access is multi-channel, via internet as well as via mobile technology on smartphones, i-phones or tablets, which through QR codes can access the data base with no problems.
The guide will show where the businesses listed are situated, so that users can be guided to the place they want to visit or find out what places of interest are nearby, within a radius previously set up by the user.
With just a click on the place of interest, there will be access to all the relevant information about it. In the case of monuments or places of historical interest, it will give information about the history, whilst if it is a business, it will give the address, the telephone number and web page link.
The first phase of this Layar system is being set up with offers, summer season programmes and gastronomic routes, as it aims to be a live system, under constant revision. The QR codes will be displayed in various places in the town to facilitate access.
