Charity Cakes and Pastries Stall in Alcossebre

The local AECC (Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer) Committee was once again out in Alcossebre with their traditional fund-raising stalls. The star products at this particular event are the pastries – sweet and savoury – which are sold at very reasonable prices to raise the greatest amount of money possible.
This charity event is started by ladies in the town who “gathered together about 15 members of the Association one afternoon and then made all sorts of pastries which are typical in our town and, taking advantage of the holiday, we sold them in Alcossebre”, Conchin Martí, the Chairman of the local committee, explained.
Members and collaborating businesses, as in every previous year, had made a series of donations, which could also be bought at very low prices, as the money is going towards the fight against cancer. On the other hand, for those who wished, they could take part in the draws for a stay in Andorra or two Christmas baskets, and a picture painted by local artist, Teresa Cucala.
There was also music for this special market. During the morning, the English group, the Alcossebre Singers, sang their repertoire of Christmas carols, providing special seasonal support for this initiative.
The next date is Friday in Alcala
The local Alcala-Alcossebre AECC Committee is very happy with this initiative, enabling them each year to collect a lot of money, which they add to that collected at their Alcala market, which this year takes place on Friday, 16th December. This is a “good opportunity to work with our association which does so much good for those suffering from cancer and their families” their chairman explained. The association is one of the most dynamic in Alcala and Alcossebre and during the year they collaborate providing all sorts of grants to those families who have in their midst someone with cancer who need help.
