Work resumes on the Alcossebre sewage plant and pipes
Alcala de Xivert Council has reported that work is to be resumed on the Sewage Plant which will serve the town
Local Mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, has pointed out that following a process of negotiation which was started between EPSAR and the Department, and in spite of the difficult times we are in, they have managed to unblock the situation regarding this infrastructure, which the mayor has described as of “vital importance for the municipality and mainly for Alcossebre”. The council has indicated that it is work which is considered by the Department as a priority and it is included in the Generalitat Valenciana’s Plan of Action under the Health section. There are only three actions of this importance in the whole Valencian Community.
According to Francisco Juan “the construction of the sewage plant is very important, not only for the investment being made, which is more than 16 million Euros, but also because it will enable us in future to guarantee the highest level of quality of our tourism offer, just like the five Blue Flags we have been awarded for our beaches and the Coastal Pathway, the ISO certifications and the eight Qualitur Flags, for the quality of the sand, the water and the first class services to be found on our shores, all in addition to the special natural environment which we enjoy”.
The construction of the new sewage plant will provide the municipal coast with a tertiary level of sewage treatment, and in the future it will be ready for when it will treat the sewage from Alcala de Xivert as well.
Sewage Pipe Network
Work will also resume on the sewage pipes which will connect the Alcossebre sewage system to the new Sewage Plant. The pipes are being installed 2.9 metres deep and will connect the existing infrastructure and the sewage plant.
