The Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council has once again presented its tourism attractions at Fitur 2012, with the main bastion the privileged location of the town, between the sea and the mountains.
As local mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, stated, “our extensive municipality is in itself a tourism attraction of the highest order because of its natural wealth. This is due to the fact that we can offer both the seaside and inland, with spectacular countryside such as the Sierra d’Irta, where the mountains meet the sea, as well as being surrounded by other Nature Parks, such as the Prat between Cabanes and Torreblanca and the Desierto de las Palmas”.
He pointed out the quality of our natural beaches “which have received the most demanding of quality awards. Three of them have received the prestigious Blue Flag award and a fourth was granted the Shore Footpath award.”
Francisco Juan Mars made special mention of the value of the huge cultural heritage “we are working at continuously, helped by the Castellón Diputación, in restoring one of the most iconic monuments in our municipality, the Xivert Castle. We want to develop the enormous historical legacy through the Xivert Castle Foundation and to spread its history with the museum”. Along the same lines, the mayor added gastronomy as one of the tourism mainstays “which because of the town’s special characteristics, includes the best cooking from sea and land, enabling the visitor to enjoy a wide range of dishes and products from the sea and the land. He made special mention of our unique, outstanding product – the ‘hanging tomato’”. After all this, the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre mayor came up with a slogan for the municipality, saying that “Without doubt, whoever comes here will come back again”.
