Alcossebre
Alcossebre welcomes in summer in Carnival mood!
Alcossebre
welcomed summer on the night of 22nd June with its first Summer
Carnival, an initiative which brought back the local winter carnival
festivities to show them to the holiday-makers in Alcossebre.
It was a
magnificent night presided over by a full ‘super-moon’ and some very pleasant
temperatures, making it an unforgettable night for those taking part and the
public.
Over a thousand
people watched the carnival parade which started from the Marina and then
passed through the main streets in Alcossebre, with music provided by several
DJs and a percussion group.
The fancy-dress
costumes were many-hued, new costumes for the occasion and others from the
winter parade used again. The important
thing was to take part and “have a great time” - chefs, hippies, tourists, life-savers,
heavies, Minnie Mouse, among others, filled the great parade with colour.
Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Fiestas Councillor, Pascual Herrera,
said he was very pleased with the great response this initiative had received
as “we have wanted to hold an event like this for some time”.
The initiative also got the summer holidays off to a great
start. “It became a special weekend, and
brought so many local residents and people from all over the area here to
celebrate the start of summer with us”.
The night ended in the Plaza de la Mola with a great disco organised
by local DJs which went on long into the early morning.
