“The History of Freemasonry in Alcala de Xivert”

On 12th July, Juan Francisco and M? Victoria Loriente, the authors of “Historia de la Masonería en Alcalà de Xivert”, presented their book in the Alcossebre Pensioners’ Hall to a large audience.  They were accompanied by local mayor, Francisco Juan Mars.  In his speech he said that “it is satisfying for the town’s residents to learn the local history, this “makes the town”, and it is important to regain our history, and to see the enthusiasm they have”.

The book reflects tremendous research, posing questions such as who and what did the masons represent in local history, what relationship could the nobility represented by Ruiz de Lihori have to do with local masonry and what secrets could be hidden in the world of the Templars which has led historians and researchers to try to establish some sort of connection with the Masonic order.  All this added to the mystery of the necklace found in the Xivert Castle.

In writing this work, the authors were able to enter into a world which very few have been able to and in the book they tell us what they found.
