The Babakus festival brought the world of the circus to Alcossebre

On the 20th and 21st July, Alcossebre was entertained by its first Babakus circus festival.
Magicians, acrobats, tight-rope walkers....., circus skills filled the Plaza de la Mola, with hundreds of people watching and enjoying the experience.

Workshops and shows and a craft market were at the heart of the well-prepared programme.  Pedro Blasco, and a large group of “pringao de turno” gave their all to make this first event of its kind in Alcossebre appeal to everyone.  And they triumphed – leaving everyone open-mouthed!

The programme was full of great moments among which Magic Andreu’s show, with his magic and characteristic humour was outstanding.

There was a note of affection during the programme when homage was paid to Richard, who, at 91 years of age, has dedicated his life to acrobatics.  The organisers wanted to highlight this local resident’s renowned career in the show world.  Local mayor, Francisco Juan, culture councillor María Agut, and the event organiser, Pedro Blasco, presented him with a picture to remind him of the day.

On Sunday, the main acts were provided by the stilt-walking group “Els Babarots” whoch gave an exhibition of all they can do on stilts.
