Castellón Provincial Diputación has resumed work at the Xivert Castle, continuing with the excavations that have been being carried out over many years.

This time the work, which will take about one and a half months, will consist of excavating the Bronze Age levels which are the most ancient parts of the castle, recuperating the weapons square, from the mediaeval era (14th century) and completing the drainage system to prevent any further degradation of the castle.

Local mayor Francisco Juan visited the site accompanied by the Culture councillor María Agut.  Both were interested in the state of the works.  The mayor pointed out the importance of this work being carried out by the Castellón Diputación.  “Thanks to this work we can learn more about our history and heritage, and at the same time this is helping to improve the conservation of the castle”.
