Santa Agueda celebrations in Alcala de Xivert and Alcossebre
The Alcala de Xivert and Alcossebre Housewives Associations (Amas de Casa) both held celebrations to mark the festival of St. Agatha, their patron.
The Alcossebre Amas de Casa started their day with a mass in the local parish church followed by lunch in a local restaurant. Members enjoyed a pleasant day with prizes, laughter and lots of anecdotes during the afternoon.
The event was attended by local mayor, Francisco Juan, and Social Welfare councillor, Desam Pitarch. The day ended with bingo in the Pensioners’ Hall.
The Alcala Amas de Casa had a full programme, drawn up to mark the 25th Anniversary of the group.
A snack in their headquarters and lunch for all the members were two of the outstanding events among those which had already been completed. On both occasions they were accompanied by local mayor Francisco Juan and several members of the council.
The programme is planned to come to an end on the 28th February and will include workshops, talks and an exhibition being set up by the “El Repiquet” group of drummers as some of the events taking place.
