The Diputación encourages ‘active aging’ in Alcala de Xivert by contributing to the complete renovation of the pensioners’ centre
This has enabled a complete gym, spa and several cubicles for physiotherapy treatments to be prepared
The Diputación, together with Alcala de Xivert Council, has contributed to the complete renovation of the local pensioners’ centre. The object was to continue encouraging an active old age among the elderly population of Castellón province.
Provincial president, Javier Moliner, opened the facility on 10th March. There is a new gym, improvements to the spa area and several cubicles for physiotherapy treatment.
Francisco Juan Mars, with the president of the Diputación, Javier Moliner and the pensioners’ president, Manolo Serret, visited the recently renovated facilities with several residents.
Improvements have been carried out to the toilets, changing rooms, gym, spa area, cubicles for physiotherapy treatment and the sauna.
Manolo Serret wanted to thank the council and the Diputación for doing this. “It will be a before and after for the association”.
For his part, Francisco Juan restated his support for the Pensioners’ Association “we shall continue working at your side in everything you need” he stated.
In his speech, Javier Moliner pointed out that “we are helping councils to adapt these municipal facilities for the elderly, providing the best equipment for them, with the widest distribution so that they can carry out activities to improve their personal independence. We are encouraging the elderly to be active, because we understand that our older people have much to contribute and because they deserve the highest regard of us all. We are working to improve the province and we include everyone in this improvement, young and old, in the various towns in Castellón”.
The Diputación is carrying out several different initiatives aimed at getting the aging population of towns in Castellón province more active. As part of this plan, this year they have 105,000 Euros in financial grants for renovation and refurbishment works, and the acquisition of equipment for fitting out municipal buildings in the province such as clubs for the elderly. The president said that this amount is an increase of 12% over 2013, a “demonstration of our promise about the quality of life for our elderly”,
