Alcossebre
Formation of the Alcossebre NTN Cultural Association
The first event being organised by the group will be a guided visit to the Xivert Castle
A group of young Alcossebre residents has now made their group official with the name NTN Cultural Association, and they want to encourage the organisation of cultural events and spread knowledge of the rich heritage in the municipality.
As they explained, this group of friends has been meeting “for a long time” in support of the bulls during the Alcossebre fiestas, since they held bull festivals on the beach and “we erected a barrier on the Cargador beach for the bulls and some years later we initiated the ‘carpas’, which were just a good excuse for us to join in the fiestas, and the idea grew little by little and gradually became a regular more important event”. However, thanks to the money collected in the tent bars, it gave us the basis to carry out other activities throughout the year, such as a football tournament or the Saint Anthony fiestas”.
Year after year, their most important event has been organising the Alcossebre fiestas ‘carpas’.
In this way the 30 friends have consolidated their group and have now decided to take a step further and form an association so that they can help more residents and cooperate with other local groups in organising events. In fact, this group has worked for several years helping the local Food Bank and supporting the Sant Antoni Organisers, amongst other causes. At present they are involved in a new scheme with the local committee of the Asociación Contra el Cáncer.
The first of their events is scheduled in their diaries for Sunday, 25th May, when they are organising the First Climb to the Xivert Castle, a completely free guided visit to this local monument, when Rafael Ronchera “El Sec”, will act as guide for those taking part.
According to the association “he knows all the history of the Xivert Castle and knows all its nooks and crannies, so he is the best guide possible for in depth knowledge”.
For the NTN Cultural Association “The idea is to promote the local monuments and for residents to learn about their history, as many of us do not know it”.
The event will take place on Sunday, 25th May, starting at 10am. At the end of the visit, there will be a lunch sponsored by the Alcossebre NTN Cultural Association. Places are limited “so that Rafa doesn’t lose his voice” they explained, “as we have abused his trust somewhat in limiting the number to 50 people. However, we hope to organise more visits in the future”, they add.
You can sign up to take part in the Xivert Castle visit via the Asociación Cultural NTN Alcossebre Facebook page for which it is necessary to click “Like” (Me Gusta) on the page and send a message or post on the group’s wall.
For their first event as an association, the group is grateful for the cooperation of Rafael Ronchera and María Agut, Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre councillor. “As it is our first time, we hope that it will be brilliant, but if there are any problems, please forgive us in advance”, they said.
