The Alcossebre Sewage Plant is now treating waste generated in Alcossebre
The plant will be undergoing a three-month testing period before acceptance of the works by the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council

The Sewage Plant (Estación Depuradora de Aguas Residuales - EDAR) which will serve the coastal area of Alcossebre has started its fully operational test period, which, if it passes with flying colours, will then lead to its acceptance, as explained by the mayor, Francisco Juan Mars.
He explained that the facilities are being tested for an estimated period of three months, during which it will be treating waste generated in Alcossebre, with all the pumping stations operating.
The mayor went on to say that there are more than 4 kilometres of sewage pipes with pumping stations and more than 3 kilometres of pipes where the sewage travels using gravity.
The Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre EDAR had a construction budget of 17 million Euros and in its first phase will serve Alcossebre, although it is planned that it will be able to deal with the demand from the whole municipality, both permanent residents and seasonal visitors, as the facilities have the capacity to handle the equivalent of 66,000 inhabitants.
Following earlier technical tests, it is now time to start the real treatment of all the waste generated in Alcossebre, with all the pumping stations along the sewage pipe sections working.
