The Company awarded the contract for Castellón Airport presents its management project

[Img #33668]SNC-Lavalin, the company awarded the contract for the concession of Castellón Airport, has promised that the first aircraft may arrive at the airport facilities before the end of the current year. 

The firm has ensured that there are already contacts established with charter and regular airline companies, although they preferred not to reveal any names in order not to give their competitors any advantage.

As the chairman and general manager of the airport, Alain Russel, explained, Castellón “will be our first, and the first privately operated, airport in Spain and, if we are successful, and I believe that we will be, we shall be in a good position to manage other private airports”

Castellón airport will join the 15 regional airports in France and the airport in Malta which it manages.  SNC-Lavalin is one of the most important engineering and construction groups in the world, and as well as infrastructure management, offers operation and maintenance services.

Russel made his declaration on 27th May after signing the contract for the concession of Castellón airport with Aerocas for a term of 20 years, for which the company will receive a grant of 24 million euros in the first nine years, to which will be added the actual income of the airport turnover.

The contract signing was attended by the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Alberto Fabra; the vice chairman of the Cosnell, José Císcar;and the principal vice president of Operations and Maintenance for SNC-Lavalin, Youssef Sabeh.

SNC-Lavalin hopes to reach 1.2 million passengers in 15 years, after which the airport will become profitable, giving benefits during the last five years of the contract.  For their part the company guarantees investment of nearly 7 million euros during the 20 years of the concession.
