The Council continues public lighting improvements
With the refurbishment and installation of LED lighting in the Plaza Ricardo Cardona, the Market Place in Alcala de Xivert, one of the most iconic places in the town, the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council is now in the final phase of its improvements to public lighting.
Having completed the work in the coastal town of Alcossebre, the task of replacing the lighting with the new LED technology means a large saving in energy use resulting in a reduction in the cost of this to the municipal’s coffers. It is all part of the measures to contain outgoings and increase efficiency in the management of public resources initiated by the current legislature.
The renewal work is financed by the town’s electrical supply company, which started the project at the beginning of 2014, aiming to change over 3,000 lamps in Alcala de Xivert and Alcossebre.
Following the improvement to the lighting in the Alcala Market Place, the mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, stated that “we are already in the last phase, which will completely renew our public lighting so that electricity consumption is reduced. This will have a double benefit in that it will save the council money as well as improving the environment.”
