The Friends of Alcossebre Newsletter No 35 December 2014
As we reach the end of 2014 The Friends would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Thank you to the Committee, volunteers, donors and customers,all of you help make the Charity Shop a success. Without your hard work, it would not be possible.
To summariseour activities in 2014: April: The AECC Charity Walk. We raised €786;and increased this to €1000.
In May we held our AGM at the Bowls Club, 47 volunteers and 11 guests attended. We said farewell to Brian Spearpoint,Ann; Lorraine and Brenda and thanked them for theirhelp and support. We welcomea new memberLynda Sinclair onto the committee.
In SeptemberThe Friends and St. Christopher’s held a Garden Party; a joint fund raising event and raised €1678. An incredible 146 tickets were sold;what a wonderful result. We thank Cecilia and Chris Hales for the use of their lovely garden.
In November the Friends had their first Auction. We raised €1250. Thankyou to those who participated, and dedicated to raising funds. We were amazed at the quantity and quality ofnew and used items donated.
The Alcossebre Singers and Players held a magnificent concert ‘Reflections’ to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of WWI. They raised €685 on the night, a remarkable achievement. The Friends added €315 to their collection. €500 was donated to Help-4-Heroes and €500 was donated to The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
In December and to finish off The Friends fund raising for the year we joined Flamingo’s in their Christmas Fayre and raised €258. Again, thank you very much to those who are committed to raising funds for charity.
DONATIONSMADE IN 2014: Q1=€6330; Q2=€5600; Q3=€5565 Q4=€8075, out largest Quarter donation to date. Totalling €25,570 a remarkable achievement don’t you think. Plus €1500 held in reserve for a special ‘Children’s Brain Scanner’ for cancer or similar. From 2006 to 2014 The Friends total donationshas reachedjust over€145,000.
