Alcala de Xivert holds the Second Templars’ weekend
The 3rd and 4th October marked the Second Templars’ Weekend in Alcala de Xivert, with a full programme including conferences and children’s activities, accompanied by themed gastronomic meals in the local restaurants.
The weekend ended on the Sunday with an “Act of Peace”. The scene was the church square with the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Conquest and the Queen Na Violant d’Hongria of Castellón together with her courtiers. Taking part in this pageant were the “El Repiquet” drummers, the “Lo Xular” pipes and drums and actors from the local group.
They enacted the battle between St. Michael and Satan (the scene of the same passage from the bible as is shown high up on the church façade.
The event was watched by many Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre residents who wanted to see this new event. Local mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, ended the day by thanking the associations for all their work in organising the Templars’ Weekend for the second year, and calling upon them to hold it again next year. In conclusion to the scheduled events, the participants processed through the town.
