Francisco Juan Mars: “we are keeping our commitment to benefitting our residents and developing the infrastructure”
The mayor of Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council, Francisco Juan Mars, reviewed the municipality’s management during the first days of the legislature, beginning “it is time to balance the management of the first 100 days of governing, which represent the seeds of the results which we will continue to gather during the rest of the legislature”.
The council leader highlighted the consolidation of the municipal project traced by the PP during recent legislatures, based on the responsible management of the municipal finances and its support for economic development to increase employment, both directly through municipal works and projects, and such as helping the most vulnerable or activating local companies and businesses. “From the first day we have continued working along the same lines as in recent years, focusing on the actions which will be of greatest benefit to local residents and on the development of the infrastructure necessary for the town”, the mayor explained.
“Our legislature started at the beginning of the summer. The most important tasks we carried out at that time were focussed principally on local business, repeating previously successful campaigns such as the “Rutas de la tapa”, the “Jornadas Gastronómicas” and creating new ones like ‘Temps d’estiu’”.
On the socio-cultural front, the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre mayor highlighted the work carried out to organise the patronal fiestas, as well as the wide and varied cultural agenda which has been offered in recent months, making it “an additional attraction which we can add to our tourism and leisure facilities, making out town not only attractive to live in, but also to visit as a nearby destination”.
Francisco Juan also highlighted that for him, during these one hundred days as leader of the town’s government, the activity which has taken place in the creation and improvement of the public infrastructure, “has not ceased, it has continued with tarmacking roads, renewing street lighting and starting work on the awaited gymnasium in Alcala de Xivert”.
As mayor, he can see new opportunities opening for development of tourism in the locality with the operation of the first passenger flights into the Castellón Airpparticularlyort, providing a service to a sector of travellers whose presence is very important locally, such as the British tourists. “Without doubt, the opening of the airport has given us a very important boost when promoting tourism, and we were delighted to be the town most tourists came to. This is what we have been working for from the start, to continue encouraging the arrival of still more visitors”.
