Alcala de Xivert welcomed the consortium’s Mobile Recycling centres presentation
Residents had the opportunity of finding out about how the Zone 1 mobile recycling centre operates. It is part of the Consortium’s Zonal Waste Plan for Alcala de Xivert and other towns situated in Zone 1. This is in addition to Alcala-Alcossebre municipality’s own recycling centre.

The mobile recycling centre, which will operate as an itinerant centre during weekdays, will facilitate the task of recycling for those who use the service.
Its complete autonomy must be noted among its main characteristics. Its solar panels make it totally self-sufficient. It is also equipped with a data control system so that it can provide all kinds of information afterwards.
This data storage will make it possible to apply deductions or award prizes to those users who recycle the most. In fact, the consortium’s motto is “If you recycle more, you pay less”. These bonuses count for both the fixed and the mobile recycling centres. Joan Piquer, manager of the Consortium’s Zone 1 part of the Zonal Waste Plan, emphasised that “this is a pioneering initiative throughout the national territory for people on the census”.
Francisco Juan, who together with members of his governing group attended the presentation, spoke of the importance of the project. For the local mayor: “the consortium’s network of recycling centres ensures that recycling will become easier than ever. The fact that some of these facilities are mobile, like the one we have here, can only increase the efficiency and possibilities the service will provide for all residents”.
The mayor of Alcala de Xivert also expressed his satisfaction that “the municipality has its own recycling centre and, in time, it will benefit from the operation and functioning of having a mobile recycling centre for our coastal and inland areas”. Francisco Juan pointed out the importance of mobile recycling centres in the high season when Alcossebre is full of tourists.
