Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council is going to invest 70,000 euros to improve the surroundings of the Bassa Llona
The improvement project will improve the accesses and the natural surroundings of the Bassa Llona, and of the 70,000 euros, 50,000 euros will come from the Castellón Diputación.
The Bassa Llona is a local natural place well-known as a leisure area and space for family recreation, surrounded by nature.
As the mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, explained, the project is part of the proposals received when the 2016 municipal budget was being prepared. Wishing to give groups and residents the opportunity of submitting their ideas and needs, this suggestion made by the Municipal Compromis Group was included. “It gives value to one of the most loved areas in our municipality, where for many generations, people have spent a Sunday or an afternoon walking and picnicking with friends and family”.
The Council leader pointed out that “through this project we aim to make it a more friendly space, enabling people to enjoy the place again”. To do this, the access road will be re-surfaced and given better lighting. Currently the access road is in a bad state, the lake is badly overgrown around the edge, and there are no defined places to stop or sit.
As well as the re-surfacing and the lighting, the natural space will be remodelled using wood around the lake to enable visitors to get to the edge and even dip their toes in the water. Rest areas will be created with semicircular seating. The work will take two months to carry out.
