Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council has received the report made available by the Agriculture, Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development Department through the Water General Management Board, which is in control of the quality of swimming waters in the Valencian Community. Again this year, the report shows that Alcossebre’s beaches were classified as excellent for swimming.
During the 2015 swimming season, samples were taken fortnightly or weekly, depending on the month, at each of the swimming areas recorded in the census for our municipality: Cargador Beach, Romana Beach, El Moro Beach, Manyetes Beach and Las Fuentes Beach and obtained the maximum classification.
Some beaches were also notable for being accessible and for offering outstanding facilities. The mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, mentioned that for some years now the council has been greatly involved in providing maximum accessibility in the town, with plans drawn up by the Council and carried out year after year. “The Alcossebre beaches were the pioneers for this scheme, but work continues day after day to improve the facilities for those who use our beaches and need them”
The mayor also regarded the results obtained from the samples as very positive and pointed out that “the town’s 5 beaches hold the maximum quality awards and Blue Flags for their waters”, awards which are the result of the continual maintenance and cleaning tasks carried out throughout the year.
Francisco Juan Mars also pointed out the efforts of the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council to guarantee the water quality along its shores, with the new treatment plant which came into operation last year for the sewage generated in Alcossebre.
