Good weather brought everyone out for the Santa Lucia festivities
The Santa Lucia chapel was once again the scene for the celebrations in honour of the saint and a large crowd of Alcala and Alcossebre residents gathered there. The weekend’s pleasant temperature meant that this year there were many more people, and, as well, persuaded many of them to arrive at the chapel on foot.
The absence of mayorales this year was no impediment to the normal celebration of the service and the procession around the chapel.
The new explanatory panel describing the excavations carried out around the chapel was unveiled and provided many people during their visit with the opportunity to find out about the discoveries made during the most recent excavations.
Rafa Ronchera, a member of the Diputación de Castellón team of archaeologists, the Mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, and the culture councillor, María Agut, took the opportunity of pointing out the new steps taken and the great value of the work which had been carried out.
