Carlos Miralles will be the new PSOE spokesperson on Alcala de Xivert Council
The Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre PSOE councillor, Carlos Miralles, will be the next spokesperson for the Socialist Municipal Group on the Council replacing Idurre Lamelas, who took part in the municipal elections at the head of the list.
Miralles became politically active in the last elections, in the third place on the local PSOE list as an independent. He is currently affiliated to the Socialist Party and holds the post of general secretary to the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre group.
The new spokesperson is 31 years old, is a computer programmer, is married and has a son. He has always cared and has played an active part in groups such as the football club committee and the youth group. “Things that have happened in my town have always mattered to me”, he explained.
Shortly Carlos Miralles will be the voice of the socialists in the council meetings, and his main concern will be to ensure that they meet their electoral promises. His priorities are the start-up of the Day Centre, the industrial estate and the construction of the Alcala de Xivert Health Centre. He also wants the Consell to pay the debts it owes to the town “as it is a lot of money and with it we would be able to make some investments”. He is critical of the fact that the governing majority does not listen to the opposition and he “would like there to be more debate in the meetings”.
However, the next socialist spokesperson accepts that not everything the Governing Team does is bad, and he applauds their wish to innovate, in particular in the fiestas and the initiatives to provide work for local companies, although he will be watching closely “to make sure that this really is happening”.
As the local general secretary, he explained that in view of the coming elections “we are working to give a new image of the party, we are working to create a list to take on government in 2015, which I have no doubt I shall be in. That does not meant that I am going to be the candidate, I am not a leader, I haven’t the character to do that, I am more of a worker”, he explained.
Carlos Miralles said that “the main aim is to revitalise the party, after all that has passed with those who have left and the various scandals, we want to be a sensible opposition and to make the town better”.
He also stated that the PSOE is now open to listen to what residents want via e-mail at ideas@psoealcalaalcossebre.es or personally every Thursday evening after 8pm at the Alcala de Xivert headquarters.
