Alcala-Alcossebre Council governing group announces its new restructuring

Councillors Pascual Herrera and Ricardo Aguilar tender their resignation for personal reasons and will be replaced by Susan Guillamón and Desam Pitarch

[Img #54189]The Alcala-Alcossebre governing group is re-assigning its departments due to the departure of councillors Pascual Herrera and Ricardo Aguilar who will be replaced by Susan Guillamón and Desam Pitarch.

Pascual Herrera, who was the Fiestas and Youth councillor in this legislature, and Ricardo Aguilar, the head of Police and Sports, will formally resign as councillors for the Partido Popular Municipal Group at the next council meeting, to be held on 25th January.  In both cases, they have decided to resign from their posts for personal reasons and have resigned simultaneously to facilitate the reshuffle and not detract from the operational ability of the governing group.  The mayor Francisco Juan thanked them for the wo rk they have carried out during their years as members of the governing group and passed on to them his “thanks for your effort and dedication to your roles as councillors.  Many thanks for your input and involvement which has led to improving our town”.

Susan Guillamón will hold the post of Fiestas and Youth councillor.  She is a student of Law at the Jaume I University and is “very involved in the associations and bodies in my town”.  As her principal tasks, she says “she will continue working on consolidating the Youth Department and apply continuity to the organization of the Fiestas which, in recent years, have had a great impact and have greatly improved”.

Desam Pitarch, who has experience of municipal management having been a councillor during the 2011-2015 legislature, will take on the Social Welfare – which she also held during her previous term as a councillor – and the Sports Departments.  “To work for the different social groups in my town and to cover the principal demands of people with special needs, has always given me great satisfaction, and in this new stage, I will be back to involve myself to the maximum”, said Desam Pitarch.

The other planned changes mean that councillor Alejandra Roca will leave her Social Welfare responsibilities to take on the portfolio of Police and Business which will become called “Commerce and Economic Promotion” and will broaden her range of action to give greater attention to entrepreneurial activities and support for local economic initiatives.

The Mayor said that “I am convinced that, with these new councillors and the redistribution of portfolios, we shall continue being efficient and dedicating ourselves to delivering the municipality’s management.  Our team continues combining experience with youth and hope and committing to working constantly as the best way to carry our town forward.  Most importantly, and independently of the people, our project in managing our town, will continue to function”.
