Alcalà de Xivert
A meeting was held in Alcala de Xivert of the Local “Neighbourhood Watch” Group which was set up to help control theft
As has happened
from time to time during recent months, the local “neighbourhood watch” group
met in the council offices to continue their work of following up and
preventing theft in the municipality.
The Security
head, Ricardo Aguilar, and the Environment head, Rafa Trujillo, were the
council representatives at a meeting which was also attended by the chief of
the local police, the Guardia Civil sergeant and neighbourhood
representatives. During the meeting they
analysed the measures which are being taken to control thefts in the area.
Residents’
cooperation was one of the subjects dealt with in the meeting. Residents continue to cooperate by reporting suspected
crimes to help the local security forces, but it was emphasised that “there
must be even more cooperation, particularly when alerting the police forces
that suspicious vehicles have been found in the roads and farms in the municipality”.
The councillors
underlined the fact that “the rural patrol formed by our Local Police and the
Guardia Civil can be contacted by farmers to deal with their reports”.
The residents’
representatives also asked for greater control of the use of red fuel, to
prevent its theft from farms as well as lorries.
During the
meeting, other ecological crime matters not related to thefts were also discussed. There continue to be people who dump rubbish
anywhere in the municipality with the consequent harm to Nature and the
appearance of the town.
Regarding this
last matter, the councillors wanted to remind residents “that the recycling
centre is available in Alcala for the free disposal of small quantities of
rubbish”. Also, Tetma will collect free
of charge all types of white electrical goods, etc. This service can be requested by phone.
