Alcala-Alcossebre Council urges the IVAJ to construct a pavement along the Jaume I camp site

The Alcala-Alcossebre Council continues to urge the Generalitat Valenciana IVAJ to collaborate in the construction of a pavement to run along the edge of the Jaume I camp site in Alcossebre, the property of this autonomous body. Having made the request in writing and through various meetings, the request was made again during a meeting with the Area officer for the IVAJ-GVA Jove, José Manuel Xirivella, and experts from his department with the Alcala-Alcossebre Town Planning councillor, José Colom, and Council engineers.
Colom explained that “for reasons of road safety, the Council considers that it is really advisable to continue building the pavement along the section which borders the Jaume I camp site and which is much used both by the young people who stay at the camp site and by people living in the area. If the IVAJ cedes part of the land, we will be able to continue the pavement up to the camino del Estany, thus completing it all along our shore”. The pavement cannot be built without the IVAJ ceding part of the camp site land as the land for this facility reaches the road itself. The pavement construction work would also include the installation of street lighting and would mean that the Generalitat would put in a new fence around the Jaume I camp site.
The proposal received a positive reaction from the IVAJ representatives and they will pass it on to the autonomous bodies who manage the transfer of land. Colom indicated that “we hope that there is no delay and that the Generalitat will look favourably on collaborating in work which is so necessary to guarantee the road safety along a much frequented section of our coast”.
