Alcossebre’s Cargador beach has new areas for disabled people

Alcala-Alcossebre Council has invested 25,000 euros this year in new platforms and parasols, adapted showers and WCs

Alcala-Alcossebre Council has taken another step towards the integration and enjoyment of our beaches for disabled people.  Within its policy of installing accessible spaces, it has added a new area on the Cargador beach in Alcossebre in addition to that which already exists on the Romana beach.  The service, which has become operational this week, has two platforms with awnings over them, showers and disabled toilets, amphibious seats and other equipment to facilitate entrance into the water for the users, assisted by staff from the Red Cross.

The mayor Francisco Juan and the Tourism councillor, Alejandra Roca, visited the areas learning about how disabled people will be able to use them.  “This service is much appreciated by the users, and that is why we have chosen to increase these spaces so that anyone and everyone can enjoy our beaches.  In fact, the Cargador beach in Alcossebre is one of those where there is the greatest demand for this service from disabled people”, the Mayor said.  In total, the work carried out by the Council to improve the service has come to 25,000 euros.
