Alcala-Alcossebre Council requests the Generalitat to comply with their responsibilities to keep the Sierra d’Irta clean
The natural park’s officers are neither clearing away rubbish nor carrying out any cleaning work
Alcala-Alcossebre Council has shown their unease at the abandoned situation in the Sierra d’Irta natural park with regard to the Generalitat Valenciana keeping it clean. During the last two years, the park’s officers have not carried out regular cleaning tasks such as emptying the waste bins, which has meant that the Council has had to do it.
Tourism councillor, Alejandra Roca, explained that “the last Generalitat’s management document did not include cleaning so that it is now for the councils to undertake this. The solution given to us by the Generalitat is not to clean and that people should be made aware of this and not leave rubbish, but we know that this, day by day, is impossible. The coves and paths in the natural park are used a lot and, as a Council, we have to provide staff and the means to carry out a task which is not ours”.
