Alcala-Alcossebre taxis can now operate from Castellón airport
On the 14th July, the Generalitat Valenciana rectified and published in the DOCV the new resolution authorising taxis from Alcala-Alcossebre, Coves de Vinroma and Vall d’Alba to operate, which was not originally permitted.
Taxis from Alcala-Alcossebre can now operate at Castellón Airport, following the signing of the new resolution by the general director of Public Works, Transport and Circulation which authorises taxi operators in Alcala-Alcossebre, Coves de Vinroma and Vall d’Alba to provide services at the airport. The Generalitat Valenciana published a resolution last April in which only the taxi operators from Torreblanca, Cabanes, Oropesa and La Pobla Tornesa were authorised and this has now been rectified.
The Mayor, Francisco Juan, said that “the important thing is that we have obtained the authorisation in time for the summer season” and reminded that “during the last three months, the council has carried out an important task, urging the Generalitat to find a solution to the comparative injustice being suffered by our taxi drivers, by presenting a file to lift the resolution. We went to the Consellería to win a promise to unblock the situation and this has finally been achieved”. “Alcala-Alcossebre is one of the principal destinations for those who leave from or go to Castellón airport, so this measure not only favours our taxi drivers but also our residents and visitors”, he concluded.
Alcala-Alcossebre Council had requested on four occasions since 2015, in writing, various meetings to obtain authority for the local taxi drivers to operate freely at the airport. Following publication of the original resolution which omitted the local area, the council demonstrated their support for the local taxi drivers by getting the situation changed. Also in May this year, the council meeting approved an institutional declaration urging the Generalitat Valenciana to revise the resolution and to permit the town’s taxis to operate.
