Alcala-Alcossebre and the Guardia Civil finalise coordination of the security and traffic contingent when the Cycle Tour of Spain (La Vuelta) arrives
The Mayor and the chief of the Local Police met with provincial level officers of the Traffic Section of the Benemérita

Alcala-Alcossebre Council received a visit from the Chief Captain of the Castellón Guardia Civil traffic sub-sector, Jesús Charneco, after his meeting with the Local Police chief, Abel Serret, and the Mayor, Francisco Juan, to coordinate the contingent of officers who will be controlling vehicles and security needed for the arrival of La Vuelta at the Santa Lucía chapel, during the stage on 23rd August.
The coordination between Benemérita and the Local Police is based principally on control, closing roads, signage at crossroads, etc. so that La Vuelta can pass with both cyclists and the large contingent of vehicles which accompany them through Alcala and Alcossebre, and the arrival at the Ermita Santa Lucía, as well as parking and control of the whole cavalcade of vehicles.
With regard to security measures which will be set up and any possible eventualities which may lead to evacuation, the Chief Captain explained that “the organisation and security measures for La Vuelta are at the maximum level and we are prepared to deal with whatever emergency may arise, both during the race and outside it. In the event that any priority emergency happens, there are always set protocols in force for the security of people and property”.
The Local Police are also in contact with officers of Unipublic, the company organising La Vuelta, to manage control of the publicity convoy, media communication vehicles and mobile units, the situation and control of the Vuelta Park and support and information for the public. The Mayor, Francisco Juan said that “the arrival of La Vuelta in our municipality gives us a unique opportunity for promotion and making ourselves known. From now on the Alcossebre Santa Lucía Ermita will be part of the history of Spanish cycling and I am certain that this will be of great benefit to our town”.
