Free bus service from Alcossebre to Santa Lucía for the arrival of the Vuelta Ciclista a España

The council is providing this service to facilitate access for visitors and residents, with a time-table, restrictions on traffic circulation and parking and different places of interest

The Alcala-Alcossebre Council will provide a free bus service for residents and visitors from Alcossebre to the Santa Lucía chapel, to facilitate access to the La Vuelta stage, on 23rd August when the locality will host the arrival of the 5th stage of the national cycling test.  The service will operate between 12.30 hours and 15.00 hours, and will start from the calle Piber.  After the stage is over, attendees will be able to descend on foot or wait until the bus service starts up again, once the competitors and their teams have left.  The Mayor, Francisco Juan, said “this service will enable people who cannot access the stage area on foot or by bike, to be present at this cycling test which is going to be a unique opportunity for our town with regard to promotion and becoming known”.

STAGE AREA

For the general public, there will be no restriction to access on foot or by bike to the stage area.  However, for vehicles, the race organisation dictates that the area must be cut off from 22.00 hours on the 22nd August, although residents in the El Pinar Urbanisation will be able to go up on presentation of identification cards which will be available from the Council.  From 16.00  to 18.00 hours on the 23rd – the length of time during which it is expected that the cyclists in the race will arrive -  public access to the Santa Lucía chapel will be cut off to vehicle traffic.

THE ROUTE THROUGH ALCALA AND ALCOSSEBRE

The race will pass through the centre of Alcala crossing the CV-133, calle Tremedal, plaza San Ramón, calle Doctor Ebrí, plaza Juan Vilanova, calle Barón Alcahalí, the bridge at the north access and  N-340, travelling to Alcossebre along the CV-142, carretera Las Fuentes, plaza Las Fuentes, avenida Manila, plaza Tanduay, camino Malentivet and carretera El Pinar and up to the stage at the Santa Lucía chapel.  All these public roads will be cut off for only between 20-30 minutes before the cyclists come by, reopening to traffic as soon as the whole cavalcade has passed by.  Vehicles will be prohibited from parking in all these roads from 14.00 hours on 23rd August until the whole race has passed.

From 16.30 hours on 23rd August, the Promenade will be the Parque Vuelta area, with various publicity stalls, children’s attractions and the transmission of the end of the stage.

Alcala-Alcossebre Council will offer all the information on the progress of La Vuelta through the municipal website www.alcaladexivert.es and, in case there is any doubt for residents and visitors, more information can be obtained from the Municipal Offices, on tel.: 964 41 03 01 or by email on info@alcaladexivert.es
