The local Alcala-Alcossebre Police arrest two individuals for stealing from people swimming on the Cargador beach
The arrest was possible thanks to the cooperation of a citizen who alerted and detained the suspected criminal
The Alcala-Alcossebre Local Police detained two individuals, M.M. and D.M.R.D., for a crime against people’s property on 22nd August. They were suspected of stealing bathers’ property on the beach.
The Local Police were notified that a citizen had alerted the 112-Emergencies Coordination Centre that there were two individuals taking advantage of swimmers while they were not watching their belongings, to steal objects from their towels and back-packs on the Cargador beach. They went immediately to the beach and saw that the person who had made the call had detained the suspected robber, the officers identified him as M.M. and then were able to prove – again with the assistance of the citizen who had made the call – that he had a vehicle which they then took into their custody.
The officers took M.M. to the Guardia Civil headquarters. Whilst this was happening, several people presented themselves in the Local Police offices to complain that they had had valuables stolen on the beach.
After inspecting the vehicle and registering it, they found five mobile phones, a large quantity of money and several vehicle keys, which led to the arrest of M.M. and D.M.R.D., who had turned up to retrieve the vehicle. Both were then passed on to the judiciary.
