Alcala-Alcossebre Council asks Adif to improve the Alcala train station

A full study has been requested, including making the lift work and the correct maintenance of the facilities

The Mayor of Alcala-Alcossebre, Francisco Juan, has asked Adif – Administración de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias – the body responsible for the maintenance and management of the Alcala train station, to improve the facilities.  The most urgent request is that the lift is put into working order as it goes from the platform to the rails and is covered in metal panels and out of use.  In the document, Juan details that “this situation means there is an insoluble architectural barrier for disabled people or those who are travelling with child buggies and are faced with the marked aim of promoting maximum accessibility in the Adif stations”.

Other demands are focussed on the terrible appearance, showing that the station is not clean, above all in the underground passage – where it is most evident, including the fact that one wall has lost its tiles and they have not been replaced – and the lack of garden maintenance.

“We want our residents and, particularly, all the station’s users, to have the best service and facilities in optimum conditions, as our town depends on it to give a good impression which, in many cases, is the welcome for those using the station.  To achieve this, although the Council has passed on its concerns with this situation on other occasions, we have now formally requested this improvement”, the Mayor explained.
