The PSPV-PSOE says that the Alcala-Alcossebre Sewer Network Plan makes it clear that the conversion of the Vista Alegre to pedestrian use was badly managed

The socialists believe that the redesigning of the network of pipes in the plaza de Constitución and the Paseo Vista Alegre in Alcossebre should have been done in 2015 when the matter of converting the area for pedestrians only was brought up.

After having spent a long time in the drawer, the Municipal Sewer Network Plan proposed by the socialists is being set in motion, thanks to the Generalitat presided over by Ximo Puig having brought 35,000 euros to tackle this first action.

The Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Socialist Group wants to complain about how the lack of planning and the improvisation of the mayor, Francisco Juan, are now damaging the public funds.  The most recent example stems from the imminent and necessary work to needed to improve the sewer system in the plaza Constitución and the Paseo Vista Alegre.

For the socialist Joan Ronchera, “it is scandalous that the tiles have to be lifted in an area which was pedestrianised only two years ago, very hurriedly, so that it could be completed before the 2015 municipal elections”.

Another Socialist Group councillor, Adrià Barceló, explained that “if the mayor had taken this into account, we could have saved this second work and, also, a lot of money”.  He recalled that “at that time, we proposed the drafting of a sewage management plan which would help us to obtain a complete overview of the situation of the municipal sewer network at that time.  But at that time Juan took no notice of our logical requests”.

“Many months later, after the Municipal Socialist Group had insisted, the mayor agreed to carry out the requested sewage plan.  Francisco Juan tried to say this was proof of good management, in spite of his efforts, this is mere opportunism.  It must be remembered that the mayor has led the Council during 4 legislatures and had never been concerned about improving the obsolete sewer network”.  Ronchera added that “we have already asked for the upcoming budgets to consider a definitive paragraph tackling the most urgent actions considered in the Management Plan”.
