Alcala-Alcossebre will set up the SICTED system to improve its quality as a tourist destination
Information meetings will be held on 28th and 30th November to explain how businesses can obtain this award

Alcala-Alcossebre Council will set up the SICTED – Integral System for Quality in Tourist Destinations – aiming to improve the tourism quality in the municipality and local businesses.
SICTED is a quality improvement project for tourist destinations promoted by the General Secretary of Tourism and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), working with businesses and tourist services which influence the experience and satisfaction of the tourists who visit the destination. It is based, among other tools, on the application of a Good Practice Manual and is a participative model which requires that the businesses and tourist services using it commit themselves to the Quality Tourism in their destination.
It offers a training plan in 16 modules, grouped in 4 cycles; technical assistance visits by the SICTED assessors; workshops to resolve doubts and solutions which generate full debates; working groups which develop improvement proposals for the destination and evaluations which contrast the adaptation of the business/services to the quality standards which culminate, in this case, in obtaining the award Tourist Quality Commitment.
Helping to guide local businesses to obtaining the award, the municipal Tourism expert has trained as a SICTED agent and will be in charge of offering training to business people and promoting a permanent management structure which could watch for the increase in competitiveness of the destination’s tourist businesses, to offer a homogeneous level of quality in all the tourist services, to increase the satisfaction of tourists and encourage their fidelity and increase the implication and participation of businesses in the destination’s tourism development. All this expects participation together with over 100 destinations in a project at national level.
To explain what the whole process consists of, local businesses are being given dates when they can take part in informative meetings, run by the Tourist Department, which will be held on 28th November in the Alcossebre CESAL, in two sessions (10.00 h and 14.00 h) and on 30th November in the Alcala CESAL (10.00 h and 14.00 h). There will also be an earlier information meeting on 23rd November, during which an explanation of what the setting up of the SICTED system means will be given to all the municipal groups.
The Tourist councillor, Alejandra Roca, explained that “we are trying to do something for local businesses to go on adding to themselves and obtaining the award, becoming more competitive and supporting quality” and she reminded that “one of the Tourism Strategy Plan recommendations was, precisely, to take measures to increase the professionalism and competition in the local tourist sector and it is through actions such as this that we can obtain it”.
