The 2018 Alcala-Alcossebre municipal budget will increase the municipal investments section by some 79%
The municipal budget for 2018 adds up to 10,628,540 euros and will be taken to the full council meeting on Wednesday, 29th November

The 2018 municipal budget for Alcala-Alcossebre, amounting to 10,628,540 euros, plans to invest 79% more compared with 2017. In total, the amount for this section is 948,572 € while, in 2017, it was 529,156 €. The justification for making such a strong investment is to resolve key questions for the locality, such as setting the Municipal Drainage Plan in operation – with an initial investment of 170,000 euros – and improving rural roads, with 120,000 euros, as well as other infrastructures: renovation of the Alcala-Alcossebre road, installation of some shelter over the CEIP La Mola playground, actions in the Accessibility Plan and improving the urban environment, extending the pavement in the camino L’Atall around the Jaume I camp site and continuing with the improvements to the council building, among others.
With only a 15.24% level of debt, the good condition of the municipal accounts allows for the increase in the municipal investment capacity with a loan of 500,000 euros. The Treasury councillor, María Agut, explained that “thanks to our model of financial management, we have gone from a 75% debt level down to the current 15.24% today. Therefore, asking for a loan will not be a burden for the municipal economy and means that we can carry out priority investments to improve quality for our residents”. Agut ended by stating that “the Alcala-Alcossebre Council has assured solvency capacity, is a viable administration and maintains regular payments and this budget will continue along the same lines”.
For his part, the Mayor Francisco Juan described the 2018 municipal budget as “resolute and effective because it is going to improve key infrastructures for our town as well as social improvements, because it continues supporting a wide range of direct assistance for our residents. We want to continue being useful for our residents and for the Council to continue resolving and assisting them and I believe that with this budget we will achieve it”.
The 2018 municipal budget will be put before the full council meeting next Wednesday,29th November, at the ordinary session for the month of November.
