Adif and the Alcala-Alcossebre Council are working together to improve the Alcala train station
The Council has asked for the lift to be made operational which goes to the platforms, and engineers from Adif will shortly inspect the lobby and the toilets so that they can be re-opened to the public.

The Mayor of Alcala, Francisco Juan, has held a profitable meeting with the Adif stations director, Juan Cano, during which it was established that the Alcala-Alcossebre Council and Adif will work together so that the Alcala train station can reopen its lobby and cleanliness and maintenance will be improved. The meeting was called by Adif, following a written request from the Council for better station maintenance and the repair of the lift which connects the platforms.
The first work will be carried out by Adif before summer 2018 during its circulating Stations Plan, and will consist of tidying up the tunnel connecting the platforms, replacing the broken tiling and removing graffiti. It is also planned that Adif engineers will shortly inspect the lobby and toilets at the station, so that they can be re-opened and used again, and Adif have committed to tidy up the waiting room.
“Management of Alcala station has changed its station director and we were met with the greatest willingness of Adif management to resolve the current problems and to re-open the station waiting room, thus offering travellers a better service and at the same time taking appropriate measures so that when there are no trains stopping there, it is closed. This will prevent the facilities being damaged, as has been happening”, the Mayor, Francisco Juan, explained. It was also agreed that Adif will carry out work to improve the gardens and trees around the station and the Council will undertake the ensuing maintenance work.
The Mayor emphasised the need to have the lift working to resolve the current access problem, to which Adif responded committing themselves to “find out exactly what state the lift is in and why it has not been working”.
“If we achieve these improvements, our next task will be to fulfil our request for the frequency of trains to Castellón and Valencia to be increased, and we shall continue working on this”, the Mayor stated.
