Work starts on a new pedestrian/cycle track along the camino L’Atall in Alcossebre, next to the Jaume I campsite

With cooperation from the IVAJ (Generalitat Valenciana) the Council is undertaking construction of a new pavement and space for cycling

The work has already started to build a new pavement and cycle lane, about 200 metres long, in the camino L’Atall in Alcossebre, along the edge of the Jaume I campsite.  The project, costing 15,000 euros is being undertaken by the Alcalà-Alcossebre Council, and has been made possible thanks to the cooperation of the IVAJ, part of the Generalitat Valenciana, the owner of the Jaume I campsite, which has ceded several metres for the work and installation of a new fence.  The work will also include new street lighting and will greatly improve road safety in an area which is heavily used by those using the Jaume I campsite, local people and visitors.

The new work will make it easier to travel along a new section of the camino L’Atall, greatly improving the area of the Playa del Moro, with action by the Costas Provincial Service and, currently in development, of the Paseo del Cargador along the La Coloma barranco.  The Council hopes that these works will then be completed by improving the paving along the Coastal Path.  The council has already passed information to the Costas Provincial Service concerning different alternatives for carrying out this work “which we believe is very necessary to guarantee accessibility”, Town Planning councillor, José Colom explained.
