The Alcala-Alcossebre Christmas programme focuses on traditional events, NADALPARC and children’s activities

The Fiestas Department has prepared something new in Alcala and Alcossebre for the arrival of Papa Noel and the Three Kings Procession

The Alcala-Alcossebre Fiestas and Culture Departments have prepared an extensive Christmas programme, with events dedicated to the youngest children taking centre stage as well as activities and alternatives to occupy their time during the school holidays.

The fifth year of the NADALPARC will be held in the Espai d’Oci on the 27th, 28th and 29th December in Alcala and on the 3rd and 4th January in the CESAL in Alcossebre, and provides the main venues for the children to enjoy their leisure time with different workshops, bouncy castles and theatre.  The NADALPARC will be open during the mornings and afternoons.  The Culture and Education councillor, Maria Agut, explained that “once again, we are putting on the NADALPARC according to our policy of encouraging activities for the youngsters to enjoy and also to provide help with family and work life”.  Also, complementing this children’s programme, there are two Cultupeque sessions, on Saturday, 23rd December, from 11:00h to 13:00h in the CESAL in Alcala and on 30th December, from 11:00h to 13:00h in Alcossebre.

On Thursday, 21st December, there will be children’s shows in the CEIPs in Alcala and Alcossebre.  On Friday, 22nd, in the Alcala Pensioners’ Hall, there will be a Christmas Concert presented by the Escuela de Música Santa Cecilia.  On Saturday, 23rd, this year’s San Silvestre race will be held starting from the plaza Ricardo Cardona at 16:00 hours.  There will also be film shows - “Emoji” will be shown on Tuesday, 26th December, in Alcala, and you can see “Tadeo Jones, the secret of King Midas” on 7th January in Alcossebre.

The most traditional events will be the arrival of Papa Noel on Sunday, 24th December, from 16:30 hours in Alcossebre, and at 18:00 hours in Alcala and the arrival of the Royal Pages on Saturday 30th December at 16:00 hours in Alcala.  This year, in response to residents’ suggestions, this will be held in the Espai d’Oci, with bouncy castles, balloon modelling workshops and story-telling.  In Alcossebre the same event will take place on Tuesday, 2nd January, at 16:00 hours in the plaza La Mola.

The traditional Three Kings procession, during the evening of 5th January, will start at 16:30 in Alcossebre and at 19:00 hours in Alcala.  This year, the Fiestas Department is adding some new things “in the belief they will create bigger processions and will awaken inspiration in the young children”, councillor Susan Guillamón commented.

The complete programme of events can be found on the municipal web at the link http://www.alcaladexivert.es/content/navidad-2017-nadal-2017 or in leaflets available from the council and tourist offices.
