Experience a new route designed to boost tourism in Alcala de Xivert around the monuments and architecture
The aim is to promote cultural and family tourism in Alcala and to create synergy with Alcossebre

In 2018 Alcala-Alcossebre Tourism Department is to have a new tourist product making use of the wide historic and architectural heritage of Alcala making it a promotional advertisement for of families arriving in Alcala and interesting them in the monuments. This new tourism project includes the creation of pedestrian routes through the centre of Alcala, as well as a circular route via various points in the municipality. The routes, which will have signing for the monuments; and explanatory panels on the history or architectural characteristics of each one in: the church, the bell tower, the calle Sant Joan, the Justo Zaragoza square, the chapel of the Desamparados, the former prison and the calle de la Foia. There will also be general panels showing where the facilities are located and wooden signs and spaces for photocalls. Themed itineraries will be created and games will be available to encourage searching for the monuments from ingenious clues, a type of entertainment very suitable for families who visit the town, turning the routes into an experience.
The routes will also have an aspect of commercial dynamism as shops in Alcala will issue cards which, for every purchase made in the shop, will be stamped giving rise to different promotions, thus increasing purchases in the shops. Promoting all year-round tourism is another of the tasks and visiting the monuments and heritage can be carried out throughout the year and not only during the summer season.
Alejandra Roca, the Tourism councillor, points out that “our aim in setting up this new project is to make the best use of Alcala’s wide architectural heritage and to offer it as a tourist product. Those who visit us and who frequently remain in Alcossebre, may visit Alcala and get to know it and visit its shops, bars and restaurants. In this way, a chain of spending will be created which will have positive repercussions in Alcala”.
