25 travel agents will be hosted in Alcala and Alcossebre as part of the initiative “Introducing Castellón”
The area is being promoted at FITUR as part of this offering experiences based on the gastronomy, water sports and family tourism
A total of 25 representatives from travel agents from all over the Comunitat Valenciana will visit Alcala and Alcossebre in a familiarisation trip (fam-trip) organised by the Tourist Department and Introducing Castellón. Using this platform, the Alcala-Alcossebre Council and local businesses offer tourist experiences which include gastronomy, water sports and family tourism with such activities as bike routes, themed walks and dramatised visits. The fam-trip will show the travel agents the natural wealth and heritage of Alcala-Alcossebre and enable them to distribute these themed packages to their clients. The plan is for them to visit the centres of Alcala and Alcossebre, as well as the enclaves of the Santa Lucía Hermitage and the Xivert castle.
The Introducing Castellón brochure, in which the Alcala-Alcossebre tourism attractions appear, is being promoted at FITUR, which was where the organisation of the fam-trip was finalised. Other short term aims, noted by the Tourism Department, “are the renewal and up-dating of the brochure contents outlining new experiences, such as the new monuments route making the local heritage an advertisement and generating experiences for tourists, which will be available shortly”, the Tourism Councillor, Alejandra Roca, explained, and emphasised that “it is the first time our town is welcoming a fam-trip, in this case of travel agents, which is a marvellous opportunity to spread information about the resources we have and what their clients who buy the product will find”. The Tourism Department is also working to organise trips of this type aimed at the press specialising in gastronomic or family tourism.
