Alcala de Xivert Ciudadanos (Cs) is asking for a land bank in the municipality
The Cs spokesperson Ximo Zaragozá, is supporting “intermediation between farmers with abandoned land and individual people wanting to cultivate it”
Ciudadanos (Cs) spokesperson on the Alcala de Xivert Council, Ximo Zaragozá, has announced that “Cs has put forward a motion for debate at the next council meeting for the creation of a land bank in the municipality”. In this way, Zaragozá explained, “ it would be an initiative looking to create an intermediary between farmers with unused land and individuals who are prepared to cultivate it to alleviate, as far as possible, the abandonment of cultivatable land as we now have 50 per cent uncultivated”.
“Currently the local agricultural sector is in the UCI, in spite of having been the cornerstone and principal financial support for residents for many years”, the councillor stated, for that reason “we in Cs believe that this proposal could be an incentive for entrepreneurs, particularly among the young, who wishe to dedicate their lives to farming in a different way from that of their ancestors”.
Thus the councillor hopes that “the motion will receive maximum support from all the municipal groups and that this intermediary service can be brought into being as soon as possible”.
