Opening Alcalà-Alcossebre to new tourist markets to increase the number of visitors, on 5th March, the town hosted a familiarisation trip for Bulgarian travel agents who visited the St. John the Baptist church, the bell tower and the Museum Collection in Alcala and the Santa Lucía hermitage in Alcossebre.  The municipality could form part of two new routes, one dedicated to the inland area, which would include Alcala, and the other for the coastal zone, with a visit to Alcossebre.  The Provincial Tourism Board and the wholesale agency Globus, with which the Alcalà-Alcossebre Council is working, organised this familiarisation trip around several towns in the province, so that they could get to know them and take advantage of the regular flights between Castellón airport and Bulgaria.

Tourism councillor, Alejandra Roca, and Rafael Ronchera, who is the curator of the local Museum Collection, welcomed the travel agents and showed them the principal local heritage characteristics.  The tourism councillor noted that “our cultural heritage is an important base to draw the attention of visitors, and therefore it is essential to inform them of the great quantity of architectural jewels we have, as well as the attractions of our natural environment, beaches, etc.” and she pointed out that “it is important to continue working with wholesale businesses because, in the end, they are the ones which can bring the largest number of visitors to our destination”.
