This summer Alcala de Xivert will inaugurate the new monuments route “The Templar inheritance”
The Diputación Provincial is cooperating with a grant of over 46,000 euros to give value to the heritage and historic wealth of the locality

Alcala de Xivert is preparing to set up a new resource to value and defend local history through our monuments. The new tourist route “La herencia del Temple”, which will be ready for the summer, will offer visitors various ways of getting closer to the local wealth of heritage with activities such as new dramatised routes in the Xivert castle and a circuit which goes around the principal architectural resources of the town - such as the bell tower, the church of St. John the Baptist and the chapel of the Desamparados. As well as routes led by a guide, it will be possible to follow them with an audioguide and a route specially designed for families which will encourage people to find the places related to the local history through different entertaining tasks.
The initiative will have technological resources such as an app which will allow you to visit the spaces along the route, through 360° pictures and virtual reality. The Tourism councillor, Alejandra Roca, explained that “in the Alcossebre Tourist Office we shall install ‘reality glasses’ which will allow visitors to obtain an idea of what the main monumental spaces are in Alcala and encourage them to travel the few kilometres which separate the two nuclei”. There will also be themed aspects along the route such as a model showing the former local trades in the plaza Ricardo Cardona.
It has been possible to develop the route thanks to a grant of 46,000 euros from the Diputación Provincial focussed on increasing new unique tourist initiatives. Roca said that “it is essential that these initiatives are carried out though the Diputación whose cooperation is basic for very important projects of a heritage nature in our town, such as the new signage for the Xivert castle”.
