Alcossebre-Yankee exceeds expectations and attracts about a hundred American vehicles
Overnight hotel occupation increased during the weekend and confirms the locality as a reference for events related to the world of the motor

The second year of Alcossebre-Yankee, held last weekend, exceeded all expectations, both in the number of participants – over 300 - and the visitors’ attendance. About a hundred vehicles, between 10 spectacular American trucks decorated with flags and chrome, cars and bikes took part in the rally The North American classic motors roared and entertained the fans of the American brands of automobiles, the rock and roll, the Harley Davidson and Custom bikes and the whole gasoline world, in a unique rally. Throughout the morning, crowds of the public visited the display in the Las Fuentes car park, as well as the stalls selling goods relating to the motoring fans.
Tourism councillor, Alejandra Roca, pointed out that “this second year confirms us as a reference locality regarding the organisation of motoring events with the iconic Custom Maestrat HD Rally which will reach its fifteenth year in 2018”. Organising events of this sort outside the tourist season is another point to bear in mind as “this weekend event has produced outstanding hotel reservations” she explained. The organiser, Justí Galas stated that “Alcossebre is the ideal place to hold an event like this and this is confirmed by the large number of participants who come from various points throughout Spain”. They had come from Tarragona, Almería, Murcia, Valencia, Albacete, and Benlloch, among other places.
On behalf of the Council and Custom Maestrat, the participants were given a ‘monumental paella’ prepared by the Custom Maestrat experts for 250 people. On Sunday, the vehicles went to Alcala, and were on display in the Avenida Héroes de Marruecos.
