Visit of a delegation from Alcala-Alcossebre to Forcalquier to formalise their twinning
Alcala-Alcossebre had already held events to celebrate the twinning protocol last June

A delegation from Alcala-Alcossebre made up of representatives from the Alcala-Alcossebre Council and local entities C.F Alcalà, Xivertcalquier and Alcozancos set off on 12th April for Forcalquier, to take part in the events which were being held in the French town with the purpose of signing the twinning formalities between the two towns. As had happened in Alcala-Alcossebre last June, the French town hosted different events during the weekend, to celebrate the twinning and to show the links between the two towns.
The signing of the twinning document took place on Saturday in the Council and several cultural, social and sports events had been organised. To complete the traditional exchanges, Alcala-Alcossebre presented their hosts with local products: “Pastes de Sempre”, hanging tomatoes, olive oil, almonds and tourist promotional material.
The relationship between the two towns began following several language exchanges with pupils in the higher secondary school years. Later, other groups went, like the Alcala Lace-makers Association to a craft fair organised in Forcalquier. The creation of the Forcalcossebre and Xivertcalquier association was key to the twinning becoming formalised to continue cementing the relationship between the towns.
The Alcala-Alcossebre Mayor, Francisco Juan, said that “it was an honour for the Alcala-Alcossebre Council to spend a weekend with the Forcalquier representatives and to participate with them in the twinning events. With this visit, we are returning the gesture and we will continue encouraging this link which enriches us culturally and touristically”.
