An extraordinary council meeting was held on 11th April by the Alcala-Alcossebre Council and approved the modification of credit needed to incorporate the budget of 591,357euros (from the savings made in 2017) in new investments. The point was approved by votes in favour from the Partido Popular and Ciudadanos with abstentions from the Partido Socialista and Compromis.
The eleven projects put forward in this first batch were described as “important requests and suggestions from residents”. There will be dog parks created in Alcala and Alcossebre to prevent fouling and make owners aware, continuing to create a municipality which is friendly for pets. Thorough improvement to children’s parks in both parts of the municipality; new flooring and sound system in the Alcossebre CESAL so that additional events can take place; a pedestrian/cycle track in the Paseo del Cargador; repairs to the Las Fuentes pavements: a new Tourism office on the Romana beach: repairs in the calle Rench, improvements to the Casa de Cultura in Alcala and extending public lighting in various places.
The projects were then commented upon and discussed by all parties present, with the only real complaint being about the short notice given for the meeting. In general all projects were accepted.
The mayor Francisco Juan said that “the 2018 budget was extremely participative, proof of this being that it was approved with no vote against, and now we want to continue this participation, asking citizens to continue helping us to define what investments we have to make. Following those which we have just approved, we now ask you to continue giving us your proposals for investing the remaining amount we have of more than 700,000 euros”.
