Alcala-Alcossebre Council already has a preliminary plan to extend the La Mola School in Alcossebre, to be included in the Education Plan of the Generalitat Valenciana. The council has requested an urgent meeting with the Territorial Education Management and the responsible experts to evaluate the projects in the Education Plan, aiming to suggest different technical alternatives to ensure the viability of the project. The preliminary project undertaken by the council includes new buildings to be located on municipal land adjacent to the current centre, one to include 3 classrooms for Infants and another with 6 classrooms for Primary children. They also plan a multipurpose hall, teachers’ room and space for administrative staff.
Mayor Francisco Juan explained that “we are considering an extension with a view to the future, covering the long term educational needs in Alcossebre. Therefore, given its complexity, we believe that we should reach a consensus with the Generalitat Valenciana”. Within the limits presented by the project, we are working out how the two new buildings would communicate with the existing building at the school and establish the uses for the communal areas.
“It is hoped that the meeting we have requested with the Consellería will take place as soon as possible to establish how the project should meet the criteria of the Consellería and in this way, to be able then to take it for approval to a municipal council meeting. The Council has already completed taking on the preliminary project and is now waiting to receive the approval in the shortest time possible”, the Mayor stressed.
