Fomento extends the road safety improvement project on the N-340 Alcalà-Alcossebre section demanded by the Council
The Mayor Francisco Juan, with the Government subdelegate, meets with the head of Road Demarcation of Roads in the Ministry of Development to monitor action considered as "priority and urgent" in the province

The Ministry of Public Works has updated and expanded the project to improve road safety on the section of the National 340 between Alcalà and Alcossebre. On 21st May, at a meeting held in Valencia, Mayor Franciso Juan met the head of the Valencian Community Roads Demarcation section of the Ministry of Development, Ismael Ferrer. The Mayor of Alcalà-Alcossebre, Francisco Juan and the Deputy of the Government in Castellón, David Barelles , have confirmed that the Ministry considers this action as a "priority and urgent" and that it must now go through technical supervision to be approved.
The project incorporates improvements such as the construction of a new roundabout at the entrance to the Alcossebre road. Action which, with the new things introduced, would exceed 7 million euros, and would contemplate extending the lanes in both directions, with new verges and the construction of a new route from the railroad track, with a new bridge. The project, for which expropriations have already been carried out, has taken on new momentum following the insistence of Alcalà-Alcossebre Council and mediation by the Government Sub-delegation. From the council, institutional declarations have been made pointing out the need to act along a very dangerous stretch between the two separate urban nuclei which local residents travel along frequently daily.
"We are satisfied because the fundamental thing, which was to start up the project again, has already been achieved and there is clear interest from the Ministry because a solution to then make it a reality, thus solving the high danger that it attracts. It is not only that the project has been renewed but also updated and improved, with a new layout in one of the sections”, said Mayor Francisco Juan. "We are going to wait for the project to go through technical supervision and be approved, so that all the procedures are carried out," he insisted, thanking "the mediation of the Government Sub-delegation, with the Ministry of Public Works, understanding that improving the N340 as it passes through our municipality is to save lives and avoid accidents.”
On the other hand, it has been reported by Roads Demarcation that work is also being done on a project to eliminate the curves in the section of the N340 between Alcalà de Xivert and Santa Magdalena de Pulpís.
