Alcala-Alcossebre Council Fiestas Department sends out a call for future ‘Festeros’ and ‘Festeras’

Alcala-Alcossebre Fiestas Department is asking local boys, girls and teenage boys and girls to take part in this year’s Patronal fiestas as “Festeros” and “Festeras”. Given that last year the position of “Festero” was introduced, opening the opportunity to young boys and teenage boys to hold the highest posts in the festival representation which had been open only to females until then.
Fiestas councillor, Susan Guillamón, explained that “last year we had two young boys who had a go at being “Festeros” and we would like to have some again this year and not just children but adults as well, meaning that this initiative would become one to encourage equality for everyone”.
The Patronal fiestas will be held from 24th August until 2nd September in Alcala and from 5th to 9th September in Alcossebre.
